Yup, title says it all! I am making, from scratch, a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic adventure game.
This game will be in the DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) play style fashion, where there will be character sheets, dice rolling, a giant quest littered with mini-quests, ect.
The game is not flash, and it will most likely be either presented via Google Documents, or organized on my personal pbwiki page. NOTE: If you don't know what a pbwiki is, don't worry. It's just like a regular page you can customize and junk. Nothing new or big or anything. It's actually rather old...
Moving on now, I suggest you go through some of my deviations. Examples of maps can be found here:
tornado5000170.deviantart.com/… here
tornado5000170.deviantart.com/… and here
tornado5000170.deviantart.com/…... but it is also effective and will serve the game well as it is played through. I am looking for completion and full functionality of the game right now, not neat and tidiness. "You must make the sword first, then you can sharpen it!"
Now, as custom to DnD and Unforgotten Realms style games, there will be character sheets which I have also made from scratch. Here is a blank one:
tornado5000170.deviantart.com/…I have also made the level 1 sheets for each of the Mane 6 or the "Mane Adventure" scenario.
tornado5000170.deviantart.com/…Speaking of scenario's... I guess that's the next place I should start.
There will be 2 ways to play the game. You can either do Mane Quest (gosh I'm full of horse puns today), or you can do free play.
Mane Quest is the story and plot I have already laid out and put into the game, which you must follow and pass through in order to achieve victory. It is a big'ol quest filled with a bunch of side quests, and a few twists as well. Similar to a final fantasy game, it is playing a game and telling a story at the same time. In it, I plan to have - as I just said - multiple side quests, unique obstacles for your characters to overcome, as well as some (hopefully) humorous and entertaining extras as you go.
Free Play is exactly as it describes. You can use my monsters, you can use my maps, you can use any of the quests, bosses, characters, anything you want! But the only thing is you must come up with your own adventure. Or, you can take mine, and tweak it! Free play is purely an edit mode, where you can add monsters, items, spells/skills, players, characters, just... mix it up! It's essentially sandbox mode. You don't even have to follow the same rules if you don't want to, you can come up with your own.
Now, back to the character sheets. You may notice that they are all filled out for the mane 6 and each has their own unique set of stats. Well, I shall now explain what most of those stats mean and do.
(for the following wall of text, I will copy pasta an explanation I have already made on ponibooru)

Everything (other than the pictures and the logo) was made completely custom, including the triangle where the 3 main stats are shown.
Each character's preferred stat is underlined, and everything is involved in some sort of formula to give the character their hit points, Skill points, armor, attack, ect.
For instance... let's talk about applejack's sheet.
Her strength is 16, agility 10, intel 4.
Now, all characters (or at least these ponies) start with 5 hp, 3 sp, 0 attack, and 0 armor. These things are changed mainly by the 3 main stats.
Every 2 strength gives the character +1 max HP.
So, you take Applejack's strength number, divide by two, and add 5 and you get 13.
for every 3 intel, you gain +1 max sp. since applejack's intel is very low, she only has +1 to her max, making a total of 4.
For her armor, there's 3 things to factor. The character's main trait has a factor in this, one which I will explain here. Look at Rainbow Dash. Her base armor is 2 because she is an agility character. Applejack's base armor is 1 because she is a strength character. Twilight Sparkle's base armor is 0 because she is an intel character.
intel = 0
strength = 1
agility = 2
Now, let's look at the +agil section. I made it so that +1 point of armor is gained per 5 agility that the character has. so, Applejack has +2 armor for that while Rainbow Dash (with an agility of 16 (+1 for the goggles)) has +3. Lastly, the equipment is the final section that has a say in a character's armor. The hat gives her +1 armor, so that's as simple as that.
Lastly, let's look at the attack. Each character starts with an attack of 0, and since Applejack uses her hooves, she then is given a set starting attack value of 4. Every character that uses hooves to attack starts with 4 damage. Now, the character's Main Stat comes into play here, as well as which type of stat is their main stat.
Strength characters get +1 attack per 3 strength stat.
Agility characters get +1 attack per 4 agility stat.
Intel characters get +1 attack per 5 Intel stat.
So, 3 goes into 15, 5 times. Thus, her attack is brought up to 9. Because of her history, though, she is granted +2 attack because she is a "worker pony", this implementing some ideals from the show itself into the game and its workings.The type, range, and Other all play a part, but will be explained in the game once I'm done.
Luck, charm, and will also have their uses, but I will only explain Will here.
Every 3 points of Will adds +5% to your chances of surviving a fatal blow.
In other words, if Applejack were down to 5hp, and she gets hit for 8, her Will points give her a 30% chance to survive with 1HP! If she was at 5hp and gets hit with at total of 4 and gets knocked down to 1, THEN gets dealt a fatal blow, the Will points will not become a factor.
This and much more are becoming factors in my game. Some things are gained per level, and others are only gained by alternative means. You all will have to wait and see when I finally release my beta version.

See that? Not only does it show I'm lazy, I'm also very creative and totally original with my formulas!
Now, these numbers are not set in stone. Due to lack of gameplay experience (as I am not yet finished with the game and it is for now unplayable), I have worked out very few balance issues. So, I may change them depending on what I see and hear from the beta feedback.
My progress right now? Oh... it's very hard to tell really. But I would say I'm somewhere around... 40%? 45% maybe... but let's not push it further than there.
Now, I'm tempted to give away a certain spoiler, but I dunno if I should... it might be a bit too much.
>_>
<_<
Eh, screw it. Here it goes!
One of the Mane 6 dies ;D
teehee, I know, I'm evil. And you will be the one that has to KILL THEM! HEE HEE HA HA HAAAA!
lol
Okay, now that my little insanity spree is over, let's wrap this up, shall we?
Once it's done, I'm pretty much gonna hand it out to ya'll. It ain't gonna be restricted to you guys in any way, it's totally out there for anyone to play and experience
Also, the game is playable online and in real life. What online means, is you can be in a chat room (preferably with screen-share or a webcam display of some sort) and be playing with others. What real life means, is you can print out the stuff and have you and how many other players you want (up to 6) sit down at a table and get a good'ol fashion dice rolling game going
Speaking of dice rolling, this game requires D20's to play.
"Oh no, I don't have any dice, let alone D20's! I can't play!"
Chill bro, it's fine. I got your life savor right here...
www.roll-dice-online.com/BAM!
That there is a link to a web site that has a very simple, yet equally effective dice rolling program. No download, no nothing, just a super simple "punch in what you want" deal and it gives it to you. Check it out for yourself!
Well, I guess that about does it for now. Nothing else to really say. I could go on about the types of spells and items and other factors that you have to deal with, but I'll save that for Beta and the rule book.
For now, I hope you all enjoy this and have a nice day!
Autobots, ROLL OUT!
